We sound the alarm any time the local politicians propose laws or regulations which infringe on firearm owners’ rights. State and federal gun organizations rely on us to assess the local situation and coordinate a local response.
Without our quick response, your ability to have any firearm for self defense would have been legislated out of existence.
Your ability to travel with legally owned firearms anywhere in the County would have been denied.
As part of our response to the “Trigger Lock” law, and the “Gun Free School” proposal, W.C.F.O.A. had on-air time showing the dangerous and potentially illegal aspects of these proposals. President Scott Sommavilla caught the County, on television, in a major error when Andy Spano’s office sought to show that trigger locks could be used on cocked firearms. This is advised against by all trigger lock manufacturers, and Spano showed his ignorance on TV, in front of County residents, thanks to W.C.F.O.A.’s vigilance.
Arbitrary and dangerous laws and regulations are being passed simply because there is no organized group to stand up to lawmakers. A group that immediately responds, in court if necessary, is the best insurance against firearm rights infringements. That’s why W.C.F.O.A. has a special “Legal Fund”. Money in the legal fund is only to be used for court actions against local infringements.
We have supported those who support our firearm rights, and opposed those who have sought to infringe those rights. This presence makes for a valuable channel of communications. It also deters frivolous actions against firearm rights.
